Slashing grass!

Mowing the grass, Kenyan style! This is my front yard...and I took these photos through my front window while this young man was diligently working to rid my yard of the overgrown grass. We have had much rain the past several days so the grass has grown LONG!

Even though he rested every few minutes, he worked through the grass quickly!
If you look in front of him you see what he will be cutting...
...if you look behind him you can see what he just did!
And if you look to the side (bottom of photo) you can see the remnants of what has been cut!
The tool he uses is called a panga - and I suspect it is very sharp!
I am amazed every time I witness this...how efficient it is and alot less noise than a lawnmower!




And this is what it looks like now! I suspect someone will be coming out to pick up the discarded grass...and feed it to the cows? Hmmm....
