"Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

Our final meeting of the year...teaching on the Holy Spirit...

The final teaching in our Mwanzo book was on the Holy Spirit!  It was such an important teaching that Irene wanted to wait for more kids to arrive...by way of entertainment, engagement and getting to know the kids names, she taught us a game called "Matthew/Matthew/Mark/Mark"
Irene teaching the game...she was Matthew
Clinton was Mark...
Basically on two claps the first person says their own name twice and then on two slaps (on the lap or table top) that same person says the name of another person in the room two times.
then all the other kids went by their real names
The person named then repeats their own name twice on two claps and another person's name twice on two 'slaps'...whenever a person misses a beat, they are out...
...so - if someone said Clinton/Clinton they would be out!
The idea is to eliminate all but one person, who is then the winner of the game...however...
Ishmael, Felix and Brian
Brenda (far left) calling out someone's name
...kids kept coming during the game until the room was full and Irene decided to end the game and start the teaching!
Lavender, Cynthia, Miriam, Faith Sharon and Yvonne
She opened the teaching session with a short prayer, then invited the kids to sing praises to the Lord.
Sharon (in the blue trouser and brown hoodie) led us in some songs...
...the kids always enjoy singing together!
Mercy, Irine, Sharon and Jessica
...then Irene taught that we "praise" God for what he has done...
Kids from the neighborhood...
...and we worship God for who He is...we ended worship with the song "I Surrender"
Irene then prayed for our minds to be opened to be able to learn what He wants to teach us.

First a short review of the previous lesson, including some great word pictures to describe the Trinity
She spoke of the sun which provides light, heat and growth for plants - 3 purposes of the sun...
I think that is Faith's thinking face!
...she spoke of a man being a father, a son, a husband - 3 roles for the same man...
Lavender (far left) seemed subdued...
She is great to engage the kids by having them help with the illustrations...
Jacinta and Brendah
Faith Sharon, Yvonne and Faith Apiyo
She walked us thru the different lessons in the Mwanzo book on the Holy Spirit, citing certain key scriptures such as Gen 1:2 illustrating that The Holy Spirit was involved in the creation of the universe

Faith checking out the sign-in book

Lavender sharing her Bible with Cynthia
She then used her cell phone to give the kids a visual to understand the power of The Holy Spirit...
Irene holding up her phone battery
Plugging the phone to the power source...
If the phone is 'me', the battery is salvation, the charge is The Holy Spirit, the power source is God and the charger is Jesus
The source must be turned on to work!!!
Acts 1:8 and 1Cor 12:3 are two key passages she taught from on the works of The Holy Spirit.
Who knows the fruit of the Spirit?
She then asked the kids if they like fruit...most raised their hands...she then had each person tell what their favorite fruit is, going around the room
Jessica reciting some of the fruit of the Spirit
Telling their favorite fruits!
 The kids enjoyed that one!
There's that smile I love!
She then brought out an apple, an orange and a banana...
Jessica, Sharon Akinyi and Dorice looking on...
She spent time explaining the value and benefits of each fruit...
...which led to a great teaching on the fruit of The Holy Spirit from Gal 5:22-23
She encouraged the kids from Jn 15:1-6 to remain in Christ to bear much fruit...
I love this shot of Irene...
She also helped us see from 1Thess 1:6 that abiding in The Holy Spirit also brings much joy.
Elsie sweeping the hallway and taking dirt outside
After teaching about how The Holy Spirit is our guide she pulled out a plastic drinking glass...
...the glass is you and me...when we accept Jesus into our hearts we are filled with The Holy Spirit.
She filled the glass to the brim...
Jacinta concentrating; Brendah smiling
I love this shot of Jacinta!
It was easy to see that being filled provides stability...no longer could she wave the glass around like when it was empty...
...but when it is filled to overflowing it has impact; noise and a mess!  Overflowing with The Holy Spirit makes a mess in the devil's kingdom...she encouraged us to be overflowing without end.  The overflow impacts our world and the people around us...
She then asked the kids to bow their heads for prayer...and she asked them to raise their hands to answer a few questions....
...if you are saved and you know it without doubt, if you are not sure if you are saved, if you know you are not saved, if you want to be overflowing with The Holy Spirit...
...we then went around the room praying for different ones according to how they had responded...

Irene praying over Irine

Me praying for Odris
We ended with worship and a closing prayer...
I was certainly blessed by the teaching, as I believe the kids were as well!
