As we continue the teaching on Women of Destiny, this week we discussed how we as women are concerned with our appearance...but what does God look at?
 |
| Rose, looking very smart, is a perfect example of a well-dressed woman! |
Of course, God looks at the heart - below is a photo of the card we printed and handed out at the end of the day's teaching...
 |
| Even though we start at 10 by 10:20 we are few... |
Of course curious Elijah was very active!
Josephine (next to Denise) has been doing such a great job with translating...Rachel (next to Josephine) and Linet (next to Rachel) have really benefited by Josephine's presence as their English is not strong...
 |
| Here we are at around 10:30 - 7 of the 12 total that attended :) |
We opened with a 'welcome question' "What goes thru your mind when you think about getting ready to go somewhere"...the answers were varied and interesting, but most of us think of where we are going, who we will see and how we want to look or present ourselves...on the outside.
Then Denise spent about 1/2 hour teaching from God's word about the different garments referred to - stressing the point that Adam and Eve were actually 'naked' before and even after the fall - but it was only after the fall the they felt shame...why is that?
Before the fall they were 'crowned' or covered with glory and honor - God was their covering...God's desire is to restore our covering of glory and oneness through Jesus Christ.
We looked at 9 different passages from the New Testament referring to garments; ranging from how we are to be more concerned about what is on the inside than our outward appearance to putting on the whole armor of God.

Even though Sarah was fighting a cold, she came and even read aloud from her Bible - these ladies just love coming together to hear the word of God!
By 11:05 we were 11 (total of 12 attended). We feel badly that every week several of the ladies miss much of the teaching, so we do our best to plan the morning so that the main teaching starts after 10:30

| Josephine, Susan, Dorothy, Elida and Nancy |
Fortunately he cannot yet manage to get the plug into the socket!
 |
| Elida filling in the blanks while Nancy reads from her English Bible |
I love when they help each other...looks like Catherine did not bring her Bible this week...
Each week I try to bring some 'toys' for Elijah to play with...here he is dismantling a pen...
Josephine (our friend who helps with translation) reading from her Swahili Bible...
Now he is playing with a coin purse...trying to put the pen into it...
Hmmm...what's in the bag?
Denise handing out the card with the hearts on it...
...she is suggesting that they put it near their closet, mirror or wherever they get dressed.
Josephine looking over Dorothy's shoulder as she is reading her card...
Denise reading the words on the card :)
We always end with a time of prayer...many requests this day...
Denise shares a praise for healing...we prayed for her last week...
Dorothy has been sick, but prayed for healing so that she would be able to attend our weekly meetings.
Elida sharing praises for healing in her family, personal peace as well as success in her business
Catherine sharing a moving story of a family in her church which needs God's intervention...we spent over an hour during our prayer time...you can see that some had to even sit down! This is a first but we all came away feeling humbled by the requests, praise reports and fervent prayers.
Embracing our good byes...
Rachel, Rose and Emily examining a card announcing a local crusade...
Rose and Sarah chatting...I think Rose is indicating a short meeting to take place just outside the
room...
We are weekly humbled and amazed by the commitment of these ladies. They face hardships I cannot even imagine and yet they manage to take hours out of every Thursday to come together to study God's Word.
This week they approached us with the idea of brainstorming ideas of how they can help each other with material needs...it seems every week one of them is struggling. This week one of our ladies was locked out of her house (meaning they did not have money to pay the rent)...we prayed for her and believe that God will provide, but we also know that sometimes God wants to use us to give the provision. We are excited that the ladies want to carry each others' burdens in a tangible way.
