Before we go to the camp, I want to share with you how we got power (or stima) to the school, which was the venue for the camp...first the cable (several hundred feet worth!) was strung from the house (to the far left you can see a fence...)
 |
| The cable is green... |
Then through the trees...
...up and over...
...now, see if you can find the green then red (right to left) cables in the midst of the corn stalks...
 |
| You have to look carefully to be able to see it... |
...through the corn field all the way to the kitchen...
...past the kitchen through the trees to the old classrooms...
...along the building to the left and then to the new classrooms...
...to and through the window to the room we used for general sessions...
...then along this building...
...into the girls' "dorm room"...
Charles led us in praise and worship songs to start our first day of camp...good job!
 |
| See speakers to the left? Wired for sound! |
The kids (and adults alike!) loved singing to our Lord!
Charles is a handsome young man...
Wyklife was the first presenter...he began by giving an "Exposition of the Theme" which was 'Predestined for Greatness'...
...his talk was based on Eph 1:11 "...in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will..."
 |
| Isaac |
The kids were so encouraged...a perfect beginning to a powerful day!
 |
| Pauline with Tom and Philip behind her |
 |
| Charles often read the scripture passages |
It was great to see the kids eager to read the word of God as Wyklife shared the vision for this camp and for the new ministry being launched (more about that later)
After reading from Jer 29:11 Wyklife asked "Who believes this is true, that God has a plan for you?"
 |
| John |
He encouraged the Secondary students to be willing to stand for Christ in school.
I believe they all desire to live for Christ...
 |
| I think Sharon may be near-sighted |
Wyklife was clearly passionate about the message he was to deliver...and the kids really responded!
Here he is asking "Who wants good things?" and "Who wants to bless someone else?"
 |
| James and Tom pouring over God's word |
 |
| One dream Wyklife has is to be a professor |
In short Wyklife's message can be summarized this way; God loves me, God has a good plan for me, I am predestined for greatness.
 |
| Brenda |
 |
| Ending with a prayer of blessing over the students |
Bevaline was the MC for the whole program - and she did an excellent job!
 |
| Bev kept the program moving |
Here she is working with Wyklife - looks like they are pouring over the books...she was also the collector of the camp fees...
Next session "The Role of the Holy Spirit" taught by Denise...
Bev distributed a handout to each student...
After a short teaching she broke the kids into groups to answer a series of questions designed to help them gain a deeper understanding of Who the Holy Spirit is and why He came...
 |
| I also helped distribute the handouts |
Collins loves to take pictures - and I am so grateful because he does a great job and then I get to be in some of them!!
 |
| This boy is called "Boy"...not sure of his name! |
This topic opened up so many questions...that were asked and answered throughout the time we were all together...
 |
| Evelyn standing to answer a question |
The kids really engaged with each other during the time for small/work groups...
We wanted the groups to be a mixture of kids that may not know each other...
...so we placed them randomly into 4 groups...
Even Bev spent time pouring through the questions which included looking up scripture to determine what God's word says about the Holy Spirit...
Wyklife has many questions for Denise...
 |
| Collins |
Denise had the kids move back into the big group to review what they had learned and add to the teaching...and then remind them that after lunch and games...
...one person from each group would share what the group learned together...
 |
| Brenda and Tom |
Finally she had to get a show of hands to see who was in what group!
Then she shared from Eph 1:12 "...that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory." As we listen to and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit it is for the glory of God.

| Moses |
 |
| Praying for our lunch |
Our wonderful cooks also served us...
 |
| Elizabeth and Margaret |
Every day the food was delicious, hot and served on time!
The kids love to have the pictures taken!
 |
| Pasaka |
 |
| Boy |
 |
| James - great smile! |
Some ate outside and some went inside...
 |
| Sharon, Norene, Miriam, Susan and Mercy - all from St. Catherine's |
Then I took a tour of the rooms...here is the girl's room...
Some of them were tired and even feeling not-so-good...
These are pictures of the boys' rooms...
Then we helped the kids choose what games they wanted to play...
 |
| Teacher George and Denise demonstrating |
...there is tug-of-war...
...and some game played with a makeshift ball...hmmm...
 |
| Wyklife trying to explain to me... |
...and my personal favorite - jump rope!!!
 |
| Beth - Teacher George's second daughter |
Bevaline did a great job - a woman of many talents!
...and Teacher George showed off his jumping skills!
Then Wyklife also 'jumped' in
I loved that the boys are just as enthusiastic as the girls!
 |
| Pasaka |
Charles could not be left out...
...and of course Denise and I had to get in on the act!
While the kids played outdoor games, we met to discuss the vision and way forward for the new ministry which is being launched...
 |
| Wyklife and Bev |
The vision was birthed in Dec 2013 when many of these kids gathered together for a reunion...
 |
| Job and Pauline |
...and began to sense God calling them to fulfill a vision...a vision to disciple youth, much as they had themselves been discipled...
Then it began to rain! I guess the kids moved their games inside...even as we had to sit out the worst of it because we could not hear with the rain falling on the iron sheet roof!
 |
| See the drops coming off the eaves? |
By the time we resumed the meeting two 'old-timers' joined us - Isaac and Kasim. We had a great meeting, and discovered there was much more to discuss so agreed to convene again the next day...
On the way back to the school for the afternoon session we stopped to check on dinner preparation...
 |
| Collins making sure all is on schedule |
...and I shot this photo of Margaret building the fire...
Here is a nice shot of our pathway down to the school...it is more treacherous than it looks, so it was very kind of Collins to carry both of our bags for us!
We started the afternoon session by hearing from one person in each of the work groups...
 |
| Isaac went first |
 |
| Tom sharing his group's insights |
They did a great job sharing what they had learned...
 |
| I took this from the window... |
I loved how they were so attentive even when one of the students was sharing...
 |
| Sharon and Brenda |
 |
| Evelyn sharing for her group |
 |
| Pasaka was his group's spokesman |
Denise ended the session by sharing from one of her favorite scriptures "...as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue..." 2 Pet 1:3
Then she asked Kasim to share a few words, of introduction to those who didn't know him and greetings to the ones who do...
Then it was time for dinner!
 |
| Job worked tirelessly behind the scenes |
 |
| Bev, Pasaka and Wyklife - good friends... |
 |
| Collins posing with his dinner |
After dinner we gathered in our classroom to watch the movie "God's Not Dead"...and challenged the kids to come the next morning prepared to share what impact the movie had on them...
