"Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

March for Dignity

Every year on President's Day the Los Angeles Mission sponsors the "March for Dignity" to raise awareness of the need for new socks and underwear for the men and women who have chosen to move off the streets and into a new life.

I walked a mile with people of all colors, sizes and ages! After the march we collected in the dining hall for coffee, cookies and water. Barrels were out in front of the Mission to collect donations brought in by the participants. It always feels good to be part of something worthwhile, but I have to admit that this year my mind was also several thousand miles away - thinking of what I will be doing in a few short weeks...

Ride the Wave!

Yesterday "overwhelm" took on the shape of a tidal wave and an avalanche - threatening to overtake and bury me. As I prayed to the Lord to 'save me' I heard this - "Ride the Wave!" - but that's impossible, I can't ride a tidal wave! As I began to let go of trying to manage the details of all that is happening right now, I remembered that "With God ALL things are possible." With God I can ride a tidal wave or ski an avalanche!

Oswald Chambers says "If we will do the overcoming, we shall find we are inspired of God because He gives life immediately."

Today I visited my friend Kathy. She is living with cancer - what an amazing and inspiring 4 hours we enjoyed! We rejoiced in how awesome God is and agreed to pray for each other as we each embark on an exciting adventure of faith.

How did this happen?!

Believe me, nobody is more surprised than I am at this "interesting twist of fate"! Anybody who knows me will agree that mine would be the last name on a list of who would be called to travel half way around the world to serve the Kingdom of God.

In August 2005 I was part of a team that "sent" 350 missionaries from the Crystal Cathedral to Swaziland, Africa in partnership with Dream For Africa. I realize now how pivotal that experience was to my life. First, I met a new friend, Denise Davenport, who worked with Dream For Africa at that time. Second, I joined Pastor Muffin's team at the Crystal Cathedral.

This sojourn began innocently enough with a desire to visit my friend, Denise, who is now serving the Lord in Nairobi, Kenya. Very quickly, however, it became apparent that God had a much bigger plan. I will join Denise in her work in Nairobi, Kenya and I will meet with Reformed Church (denomination of the Crystal Cathedral) missionaries and other people who have contacted the Crystal Cathedral.

However, I realize that while I am there I will be exploring this call that God has put on my life. I truly do not know what His plan is, but I do know that He goes before me on this journey and that I am safe in His hands. I am grateful for the love and support of friends and family who are praying me through this adventure!
