Client Training - Day 2
Priscilla and Abraham welcoming our clients for the second day of our two day training.
I can't resist taking photos of the empty church hall 1/2 hour after we are supposed to start!

Esther starts the morning with praise and worship...I love this part of the day :)
Priscilla encouraged our clients from the Old Testament.

Virginia spent a few minutes recapping what was taught yesterday.
Hey, the hall is filling up! And it's not even 10am yet...
Esther is teaching about our credit policies. This topic includes how to qualify for a loan, the succession of loans, interest rate and even some basic information about micro-finance.

Meanwhile Francis and Abraham are preparing the bread for tea time...
...spreading Blue Band (Margarine) and jam.
Virginia chatting with a client.

Yea! The tea has arrived...Abraham, Samuel and Peter wait with the caterer.
Tea Time! I think our clients were ready for a break...

Enjoying tea and bread...even standing up!
Samuel, Priscilla and Esther enjoying tea time.

Abraham is teaching How to be a Successful Business Person.
Trying to see past the pole!
Peter decides to help Abraham by writing notes on the flip chart.

Stretching time! They call it "energizer"...this time Esther is teaching them a game called "Fishers of Men"...women sit on the "F" words and the men sit on the "M" words as we all sing the song "Fishers of Men"...
It was such fun to watch them trying to react...
...at the right time...

If you go back up and scroll down quickly you can see a bit of the action...
And it usually ends with laughter!
Virginia is teaching on Integrity and Honesty...
This is a critical topic in a culture of corruption. It starts at the top with high ranking officials in government and permeates every area of life here. It is critical that our clients know that it is not okay to succumb to corruption in any form.
Francis speaking with a client.
Priscilla, Abraham and Francis resting. This is Priscilla's first training so she watched and listened so that she will be ready to teach at our next training.

At the end of the day, Esther takes a few minutes to review all that has been covered...
...and take some questions.

Here Esther and Samuel are breaking our clients into small groups...
...where they will work on answering a questionnaire...
...evaluating the effectiveness of the training.
Samuel is handing out the evaluation forms.

Staff is available to answer questions.

Working diligently to answer the questions.

Here Samuel is collecting the forms.

Esther closes the two day training by inviting our clients to make comments if desired...
...which a couple do...

...this man is expressing that he heard things these two days that he'd never heard before and his mind is opened to new ideas.

We ended the day with lunch...my favorite time of day :)

This mama is challenged with holding her plate, her kid and the bag of ugali (made from corn meal)

Washing before lunch...

Today they served fish and chicken to ones who don't like fish. This is my lunch - from left to right is ugali (used to eat the other food), sukuma wiki (cale), talapia (yum!) and cabbage. No spoon as this is all eaten with your hands! The ugali is a bit sticky so if you roll it into a ball you can use it to pick up the sukuma and the cabbage...I just use my fingers to pick the meat off the bones of the fish.
Samuel enjoying his fish...
Abraham enjoying his fish!
Our caterer doing the dishes...we always hire one of our clients to provide food for our trainings.
We have already received positive feedback on this training and fully expect our clients to put the concepts they have learned into practice. The weekly meetings will provide an opportunity for the loan officers to reinforce the ideas learned here and also to encourage our clients and answer any questions which come up.
