This week was our final teaching for the Joseph study! And we told Pastor James (the 'father' of the home) that any kids signed up for the youth camp must be in attendance on this day - so we had a full house...(more about the camp later!)

| Signing in... |
As always, we begin every session with a word of prayer...
Today it was Sharon's turn...
 |
| Stacy caught me snapping this photo! |
How many kids have dreams? They all do - just like Joseph...first we did a quick review of where we left off last time...So much of this story revolves around the dreams Joseph had as a youth and then his capacity to interpret dreams as a young man in prison...
Every student had opportunity to read a portion of scripture...

...they love reading the Bible and helping each other!

The theme this week was "Perseverance" and the scripture reading was Acts 7:9-16
 |
| Anne, Odris and Reagan... |
This passage in Acts gives a brief summary of Joseph's life from the time his brothers sold him into slavery...
 |
| Dorothy is eager to answer the questions! |
From this rendering of Joseph's life, the kids are asked to create a time-line of the key events
 |
| Odris is eager to learn as he leans closer! |
The kids were really challenged, but learned a new skill!
 |
| Odris is a character; posing for the camera! |
The timeline and subsequent discussions revealed one quality which stood out in Joseph's life - perseverance...how else could he have withstood so many years of waiting for the dreams God had given him to be fulfilled?
 |
| Denise has drawn a sample time-line to help the ones who are struggling |
It is especially poignant when we consider the circumstances he was in - for several years he was held prisoner with no possibility of release; even forgotten by the cup-bearer whose dream he had interpreted...it is easy for these kids to identify with Joseph - facing seemingly impossible life circumstances!
 |
| Reagan did a great job! |
Who has been to camp before? Okay - you will help the 'first-timers'!
But first - we handed out certificates to all the kids who missed less than 3 times - which was all of them! And three of them had perfect attendance!
 |
| Each kid got a jumping frog (including me!) |
Perfect attendance was rewarded with a crown and a special surprise (in the bag); Quinter, Miriam and Rodgers!
 |

All the kids proudly displaying their certificates...posing with the teacher (mwalimu)!
This year will be my first time of taking the kids to the Youth Camp - I am excited and plan to post lots of pictures...so watch for them!
