After two flights and an 8 hour ‘visit’ to the Amsterdam airport, we arrived in Kenya! We were pretty excited to find these 'lounge chairs' where we could relax, read and even take a nap!
It only took about an hour of fumbling, waiting and yawning to obtain our visas, then down to collect our baggage. My friend, Rhonda was waiting front and center to lead us to her car.
We spent our first day settling in and our second day visiting a local tea farm. We hav e decided to take things slowly, to sort of ‘savor’ our first week here. Here I am in front of a field of tea plants...in the background is the original tea factory where they used to make the tea.
However we are both looking forward to our time at Missions of Hope (MoHI) – me, reconnecting with my friends and getting back to ‘work’ and my mom, meeting new friends and exploring all the wonderful ways that MoHI is helping the people in the Mathare slums to embrace hope and a vision for a bright future.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers as we enjoy the sights, sounds and people of Kenya!

I'm so happy to see you have a photographer for a little while. It's good to see you in Kenya in front of the camera and not always behind it! Love you girlie!
Hey Jo,
Glad you made it home safe. Happy Alex is with you. Tell her I want to hear about her trip when she returns. Please pass on my email and phone number to her.
