| Steve, Caroline, Sarah and Virginia preparing |
Each month we conduct a two day training for our newest clients. Topics include Doing Business Successfully & Marketing, Group Dynamics (each of our clients is a member of an accountability group), Default Management/Loan Management, Budgeting/Record Keeping, Integrity and Credit Policy (how to work with our program).
Our client feedback indicates that the ideas and information learned in these trainings are invaluable to them in their businesses. Once a client has spent 8 weeks in an accountability group; being trained and also saving each week and then attends this two day training, they are then eligible to take a loan to help grow their business.
We have learned that money without knowledge and skill will not take them very far!
| I just love how attentive this group was! |
| Our clients are ready and eager. There are few here even though it is already half an hour after the time we were to start! |
| Francis and Sarah lead in praise and worship |
| Our clients love to sing praises to the Lord! |
| Steve spends a few minutes sharing the word of God from Exodus 4:1-3 |
| He was speaking Swahili but later told me his message was meant to encourage our clients to use what is in their hands; the gifts, talents and skills God has given them. |
| Meanwhile Millicent is still registering late-comers! |
| And Eric is taking their pictures for our new website, BigDent...notice his smile? He is trying to get HER to smile - NOT! |
| This is Francis - I love his smile and his eyes always contain the light of Jesus. He is preparing for his talk on Group Dynamics. |
| Eric still trying to get them to smile...looks like he is succeeding here! |
| Joseph covering Expectations and Introductions (Rules) |
| Ryan and Eric tag-teaming registration and picture taking. The trick is to list the names of the clients in the same order as the pictures so that it is all correct on the website. |
| BigDent is a website designed to attract donors from the US to be able to 'sponsor' loans for select clients. |
| I took a stroll around St. Mary's Catholic Chapel (the venue of the training) and came upon the chicken coop! Doesn't every church have chickens in the yard? |
| As you can see by this list, and our clients did not know our topics, they are eager to learn what we have to share. These are the answers to the question "what do you expect to get from this training?" |
| Joseph seems very serious about his talk... |
| And the clients seem pretty serious as well... |
| What's this? A coin sticking out of his belt??? Millicent says this is the "picture of the day" :) |
| Ryan seems to have taken over the registration process :) |
| Way too cute! |
| Millicent thinks so too! |
| By the end of the morning Eric's face hurt from smiling so much! |
| The rules our clients came up with for the training... |
| Showing the results to a pleased client :) |
| I wonder if that client is thinking about the coin in Joseph's belt, which by the way Peter sneaked in and removed just after I snapped the photo! |
| Abraham is teaching about Doing Business Successfully and Marketing... |
| ...I think he has their attention! |
| Francis asked for two volunteers to hang the papers once they are full...this lady was the first to jump up, even though she is disabled and walks with difficulty...I like her spirit! |
| Local scenery through the windows... |
| Very studious... |
| Our youngest trainee! |
| As you can see I kept going back and forth between the training and the registration/picture taking process |
| Creative signage! |
| Ready to be of service! |
| Time to hang a sign! |
| Preparations for tea time! |
| Steve and Francis multiplying the serviettes (napkins) by cutting and separating... |
| Millicent directing traffic |
| Boniface made an announcement at the end of tea for anyone who had not had their picture taken to see Ryan and Eric |
| So, what do you think? |
| I guess he didn't like the first take! |
| Goofin' around |
| Shoes... |
| One reason for this picture...it is the only one with me in it! Even though my head is cut off! |
| Steve is a HIT with his ice breaker...balloons! I so wanted to join in the fun, but arrived just a minute too late :( |
| Eric's new girlfriend...I think it was love at first sight! |
| Another ice-breaker that the clients loved almost as much as the balloons - by the way, that's Peter in the stripes. |
| Francis is so good at energizing the room :) |
| Francis in 'teacher mode' as he leads the session on Group Dynamics. |
| He confessed earlier that he had butterflies in his stomach but I assured him he would be great. I think I was right! |
| Besides, butterflies mean you are taking what you are doing seriously; that it matters to do a good job - that's a good thing! |
Unfortunately I had to leave early :( so this is all the photos I got...I know I know this is way too many! Just think if I had stayed the whole two days instead of just one half day!
