"Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

This week in Kibera...

This week as part of the "Women of Destiny" series, we studied the different personality types and how each one reflects an aspect of God's character. We also discussed how He uses our personalities in various ways to fulfill His purposes. What fun learning about each other's differences and how we can work together to compliment one another!
Today was especially fun with the ladies...we planned to perform a skit to dramatize the four basic personality types...we each wore a hat naming our behavior style :)
Our group time began with Josephine leading praise & worship
Denise (Social type), Rose (Doer type - one of the ladies in the group), Josephine (Steady type) and me (Thinker type) "planning" a birthday party for a mutual friend (an imaginary friend!)...
We spent a few minutes with Rose going over the script...she plugged right in to it, did some ad libbing and we had so much fun :)...at the end we each made a statement that characterized each of the types; Social - "Let's have fun doing it!", Doer - "Let's do it now!", Steady - "Let's do it together!, Thinker - "Let's do it right!"
After a brief transition-teaching we handed out a sheet listing about 6 - 8 words describing each of the 4 types...
Josephine did an awesome job of translating/teaching
Each lady stood while the rest of us chose words from the sheet that we think describes her...Linet went first...
We all tended to see her "steady" characteristics...
But her 'test' results show that she is first a "thinker" then the "steady" type...
Rachel, who is close to Linet, stood to give her feedback to Linet - sweet!
 Combing his hair :)
Beautiful smile :)
Rose went next...she is a natural leader

Emily is another quiet one...very shy - you will see many pictures of her with her head down.

Nancy was not here to take the survey, but we know her well enough to come up with some words we think describe her...
She is supportive, helpful and also a natural leader...

Rachel, who speaks very little English, was excited to take her turn...
She handed Elijah (her boy) to Linet - who took him out of the room since he started crying!
Susan, Rose and Emily thinking and listening...
Elijah escaped from Linet and is on a mission to get back to his mama!
It looks like Emily is noticing...
Emily is looking down, but does hear Elijah 'begging' his mama to pick him up, but Rachel is effectively concentrating on the feedback being given to her...
Here Emily is trying to bring Elijah to herself, but he is having none of it!
Maybe a pencil will entice him?
It is awesome to watch Rachel blossom before our eyes as she engages with Josephine who is now our regular translator - we bring her with us every week now and the ladies just love her ;)
Susan is enjoying this exercise!
Dorothy is quiet and a bit shy, but definitely a take charge person when that is called for!
She has such a sweet smile...
Josephine is listening intensely while Denise talks so she can translate for the ladies...
I love this look on Nancy's face...

Dorothy reading from the paper the traits she sees in herself...
Susan, Rose, Dorothy and Emily
Rachel, Linet, Nancy, Josephine and Denise
Josephine translating/teaching...she is adding so much to our weekly studies!
Susan reading from the handout all about the different styles...

Prayer time at the end always starts with worshiping God in song...
 Saying our goodbyes...answering questions...
Dorothy is sharing with Josephine that her daughter's name is also Josephine - connections!

Rose went to wash her hands and began filling cups for the kids...sweet!
Every week my appreciation for and love of these ladies grows...they truly are remarkable!  It is an awesome privilege to walk with them and watch God transform their lives...God is good!
