We were excited to have Rose and Linet as guests in our home. The day started with them arriving 10 minutes early!
After a time of fellowship over tea, Denise began the meeting with a brief overview of how the day will go. We started with any questions from the material they had been given the week prior. Rose actually had a provocative question from last week's teaching...which prompted a lively discussion on leadership qualities and how God works in our lives! The question had to do with character - does God put it in us or is it a choice we make? We even touched the issue of predestination! We agreed it was one of those "both/and" situations...and that it is largely a mystery that only God knows. Denise brought the conversation back to personal application by reminding us that God is looking for willing hearts - are we willing to respond in a positive way to Him?
During the study on Leadership Denise will be teaching on our "heart-condition" which will address many of the questions brought up on this day!
We then looked at their homework which was to complete a wheel of life - showing how satisfied they are with each major area of life: Social/Friends, Spiritual/Church, Money/Finances, Family/Children, Health/Fitness, Fun/Recreation, Vocation/Personal Development, Marriage/Love
From there, we determined in which area each one would be motivated to increase their level of satisfaction.
We then helped them to each create a SMART goal - one that is; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time specific.
I loved the way each lady spent time thinking of what they would do, what obstacles could hinder them from achieving their goals, and how to overcome the obstacles!
Since Josephine had been through this exercise during our coaching sessions, she was invaluable in helping to explain the concept to Rose and Linet.
We then explained to them about SEA; Support, Encouragement and Accountability. We helped them to come to agreement on how they can offer those three things to each other.
Then we had lunch! Beef stew, chicken, rice, greens and chapati - yum!
Back to work after lunch! Learning about 20 tips for successful time management. We encouraged the ladies to find two or three that they can begin to incorporate into their lives...stressing that they may even find that some of these tips will help them to achieve their SMART goal.
We then gave them each a small calendar - the first tip on the list!
We were all blessed by the teaching, the fellowship and even the food!
Josephine shared with us that at least a few of the tips convicted her to begin changing the way she is doing some things...like reading on the internet until 1 or 2am!
