Commute!

Eric and Ryan are here from the states working with our micro finance program
With the rains and all the road construction between my house and where I work, it became very difficult for me to walk from where the matatu (14 passenger mini van and primary public transportation) would drop me in the morning.  So - I called my good friends Ryan and Eric to see if they would help me out.

Even though my house is (way) out of their way, they agreed to pick me up and take me to work - they are the greatest!
Matatu slid off the side of the road.
What you can't see in the photo above is that it is sitting in water...the 'passenger' door opens to a couple of feet of water...imagine if I'd been on that vehicle...ugh...I would have been wading through the muddy water!
Too close for comfort...see the 'breakaway' mirror on our car?

Nairobi traffic - you gotta love it!

On a matatu...

This is where I would be walking if not for Eric and Ryan :)

Wet and muddy!

Sometimes between the vehicles is the best place to walk!

Yup, that would be me!

Up the mud mountain...that's where I would cut through if I were on foot.

This matatu was driving on the sidewalk...

And fell off!

Not sure how long it took to get them out!

I walk through here each day...

And up this path...often a little boy runs up to me with his arms outstretched...
