The Lucky Eight!!

I call them the Lucky Eight because they are the 8 kids, in our discipleship group, who cleared class 8 this year!  We wanted to celebrate their achievement by inviting them to our home for games, food and fun!

On the couch is Stacy, Dorothy, Quinta, Sharon and Reuben

I love that every activity with these kids begins and ends with prayer...

Of course, before anything else there was tea!  By the time I got this photo they had eaten ALL THE MANDAZI, including mine!!  Oh well...

Rodgers is a fun and funny guy!

One game was Aggravation...a very fun game played with marbles...

The more sedate group chose cards - SkipBo, a game I learned when we went to the youth camp in August...so much fun!

At first I was a bit uptight that the girls kept missing the object of the game, but then I decided they were having fun and that was the point anyway!!

This is the "Stacy version" of dealing...grab a handful of cards and make 4 stacks of 20...Dorothy and Quinta are 'shuffling'

Meanwhile a very intense (and noisy might I say!!!) game of Aggravation...apparently there was some 'bending of the rules' that Denise finally chose to overlook - sounds like a challenge for both of us!

 Finally they decided the best course of action was to lift the couch!

 Then Reuben grabbed my camera and took a few shots...

Lunch time!  Pizza or chicken?  Ummm...let's have both!!

 Each kid got two slices of pizza and one piece of chicken...

 Rodgers is such a cut up...loves to make people laugh and just be a general goofball!

...and Reuben had to get in on the act...you can see a distinct difference in their personalities!

Not sure why Dorothy is at the table all by herself...unless of course she wanted to make sure she did not lose her spot at the card table!

After lunch...Actionary...a bit like charades.  First each team (in this case boys against girls) writes words on scraps of paper for the other team to act out...

...each kid was to come up with 3 words...for a total of 12 per team...and they could help each other. 

I was assigned to the boys in the sitting room and Denise took the girls to her room - of course they got distracted looking at photos and I had to come collect them after the boys were done!

Let the action begin! 

The girls pretty much 'drew' a box for every word they encountered and then 'urged' without words for the teammates to be able to guess correctly...

The boys, on the other hand, cheated by saying the word under their breath so their teammates had only to wait an acceptable amount of time before guessing...

Dorothy is a performer...and a dancer...I loved watching her move while it was her turn!

I could tell that Quinta had something in her mind to do, but always seemed a bit stumped when it came to acting it out...

In this one, Reuben came out and 'kicked' the ball...they guessed immediately!

Before each word was acted out, Denise would have a private moment so that she would know the word and to make sure that they understood the word...

Rodgers is naturally outgoing so he was able to get right into action when it was his turn!

Actually the kids got better and better at acting out the words as the game progressed...

After a fun-filled afternoon we closed the day in prayer...Evans loves to pray out loud...

What a treat to spend some quality time with these special kids!
